Elton John – one of the greatest stars in the history of rock and roll - will play the Webster Bank Arena on Friday, November 8.
The concert will be Sir Elton’s first area show since a historic two-night, sold out stand at the arena in April 2004. One of his earliest American shows, on Nov. 22, 1970, was also in the Park City, at the University of Bridgeport. He will be performing with his longtime band members Davey Johnstone on guitar, Nigel Olsson on drums, Matt Bissonette on bass, John Mahon on percussion and Kim Bullard on keyboards.
“We are thrilled to welcome Elton John to the Webster Bank Arena,” said Howard Saffan, president of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment, LLC, which manages the arena. “We’re committed to bringing some of the biggest artists in the world to the arena, but this is very special. Elton John is a legend.”
John is supporting his new album, “The Diving Board,” which will be released September 24. The album will be his 30th release in a storied career that has placed him in the stratosphere of rock royalty. He was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and in 2008 Billboard magazine ranked him the most successful male solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100 Top All Time Artists. He has sold more than 250 million records, had seven consecutive No. 1 U.S. records, more than 50 Top Forty hits and nine No. 1 hits.
